This oceanfront condo was purchased as a weekend escape for out of town clients. Intending to allow extended family to make use of the space, they requested a beautiful, family friendly, multi functional beach escape.
Knowing this, we selected furnishings that could serve dual purpose. By ading sleeper sofas in both Living and Fanily areas, we increased sleeping accomodations to ten people. We added a small desk area ithin the Living Room, whose desk chair and a matching companion serve as addotional dinig chairs when the table is extended to seat six. Many of the fabrics and rugs are cleanable and suitable for indoor and outdoor and the dining chairs are custom wipeable bistro chairs made in France.
Additional challenges included working with existing finishes, the inability to add recessed lighting, and working with a moderate budget. The take this from a cookie cutter condo to a custom coastal getaway, we added new decorative light fixtures, wood walls, new paint, and wall coverings. Layered drapery treatments let us take advantage of the natural light and views while providing an option to filter our heat and glare. Shades of vlue and green unify the open plan while accents, artwork, abd accessories give each space an unique finished look.
