With an eye for design, this special client had a stylish vision for this custom home from the start. The client requested a timeless beach home with open floor plan ready to entertain a large extended family and loads of friends. The hope was to create a relaxing atmosphere with a distinct laid back ease. We successfully created this feel with the use of a coastal neutral color palette and by creating interest with a mix of highly textured materials found in the linen furnishings, pecky cypress and oak wood accents, as well as textural organic faux finishes found throughout the home. Starting with a crisp white background and incorporating moments of color with dusty gray-blue tones with whispers of natural greens, the atmosphere created is comfortable and serene. Beautiful wood tones throughout the home lend a necessary bit of warmth to the otherwise crisp color palette.
Beginning with schematic design, our space planning accommodated two kitchen islands continuing into a dining area that was casual enough to be a breakfast area but could also function as a dining space large enough to accommodate a large gathering space fit for entertaining. The generous hospitality of this area spills out to an enormously inviting outdoor area fit with cozy seating groups for conversation, fireplace and pool with a lagoon view fit for a party or equally an intimate evening under a blanket with a book.
A challenge presented in this project is that while the client wanted a timeless design, she also has a cutting edge eye for current design and a hip space was a must have. We worked diligently along with the architect in detailing this home to create a classic architectural structure with enduring elements that could be topped off with in-the-moment accents and furnishings.
