This coastal custom kitchen was part of a whole house, full-scope interior design, new construction. The clients are from New England and were not going to be local for meetings. They asked for all selections and drawings to be digital and very visual. The home is on the ocean so they wanted to have access and view to the ocean and to the summer kitchen for outdoor cooking. The kitchen is central to the home and we needed to allow lots of flow to and from all the 4 sides of the kitchen which was most challenging. They asked for high-quality appliances and as much cabinet space as possible so chose a custom cabinet shop. With the island center stage, we purposefully made the backs of the barstools lovable! For the color pallet, the clients requested a classic Florida coastal palette of blues, greens, and sand, offset by crisp white cabinetry. We completed a virtual kitchen inventory and interviewed the client about their food storage, other storage needs, cooking and entertaining, organization, lighting needs, plumbing preferences, cleaning habits, and electrical needs. The result is a bright and airy coastal kitchen with great style, comfort and circulation, and soft attractive palate of oceanic finishes of quarter sawn white oak, pale qua ceramics, vintage brass, white marble-veined quartz counters and generous amount of painted white woodwork.
